Vol 1, Issue 1

October, 2004

In this inaugural issue, trainee John Appiah-Poku (2002) reports from the field on his study of participants in a genetic TB Research Program and his finding that the participants perceived the most common benefit of the research to be the generation of new knowledge. Advisory Board Member, John H. Bryant discusses the challenge of developing care systems for orphans (due to AIDS) and other vulnerable children in Africa and the necessary steps to address the challenge. Readers are introduced to the 2005 trainees: Fraction Djinjalamala (Malawi), Joseline Bruce (Ghana) and Gorrette Nalwadda (Uganda).
